Technological InnovationThe current global market has been calling for increases in productivity and quality improvement, without increasing the production costs. These two requirements are vital for survival in the global market, and they can only be reached by a growing investment in research and technology. However, even though these two requirements are vital for the survival of entrepreneurship, they are hard to meet. You need an appropriate infrastructure and a qualified staff to be able to develop research and new technologies, which is extremely costly. In certain fields, the investment needed is too high for small and medium sized companies which cannot afford the appropriate tools. Therefore, they become obsolete and they start producing product with low technological content and consequently low added value. In this context, the CMDMC makes its laboratory facilities and its highly qualified technical/scientific staff available in order to produce highly technological products and processes, as well as methodologies and techniques for quality control. The technology and Innovation division relies on the support of knowledge generated in CMDMCs other divisions. The Research division contributes to solve technological problems. By being associated with the university, business partners will form a production chain in order to ensure functionality, lower cost, optimization projects and speed of development. In this chain, researchers will interact with raw materials producers and with entrepreneurs who will manufacture the final product which will be delivered to the consumer. This is how the CMDMC guarantees the best cost-benefit ratio for the product or the process developed. In addition to process and product development and problem solving, the technology and Innovation Division is also responsible for employee training in production. With all the knowledge generated in the center, it is easy for professionals from the same knowledge areas to update and specialize. Technology and Innovation activities are coordinated by the Professor José Arana Varela who can be reached via email: varela@iq.unesp.br.
